What is Plex Media Server?

Plex Media Server organizes a local library of movies, TV shows, and music and streams it to Plex client apps on virtually any device. The server is free; some features require a Plex Pass subscription.

Run Plex Media Server in Even

Even Stacks launches Plex Media Server as a managed container on your own machine. No compose files, no manual setup.

Open the Even Stacks panel in Even. The container engine starts on demand.
Find Plex Media Server in the one-click services and click Launch.
Even pulls the image, starts it on port 32400, and serves it over trusted HTTPS at https://plex.localhost.

Drive Plex Media Server with your AI agents

Even ships an MCP, so any agent you run inside Even (Claude Code, Codex, and more) can operate Plex Media Server directly, at both the UI level and the container level.

Through the Even MCP an agent can open the web UI in Even's browser pane and click through setup, add libraries, or change settings. It runs commands inside the container, reads its logs, and for web apps opens and clicks through the interface in Even's own browser pane. Ask once, for example "set up Plex Media Server and get it ready", and the agent handles it end to end.

How agents reach it: Sign in at http://localhost:32400/web with a Plex account. Add media libraries pointing to mounted volumes (e.g. /data/movies) via Settings > Libraries. First run requires a claim token from plex.tv/claim. Metadata and the database live in /config.
